This past summer, one of our most gorgeous Vancouver events was a Hart House wedding at Deer Lake. Vanessa + Chris celebrated a warm summer wedding day by sharing their vows at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Parish in East Vancouver (my ol’ hood), then a reception later that day at the beautiful Hart House Restaurant in Burnaby. We were especially excited about taking photos of doggie wedding dress. What a special moment in a dog’s life, and we were there to capture it all. Meanwhile, Vanessa had their makeup and hair stylist at her home, prepping her for the big day ahead. Chris spend his morning at home with the fellas, getting ready to look dapper. I used to pass by Our Lady of Sorrows daily to visit my mom at work. It’s nice to photograph a wedding at this Catholic Parish in my ol’ stomping grounds. We’ve shot weddings in there before, but each time I’m there, it’s special just because it’s in my old East Van neighbourhood. After the ceremony and family photos at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, we drove to Hart House Restaurant at Deer Lake in Burnaby to feast our eyes on the upscale modern rustic decor and floral work by Flowerz Inc. If you like outdoor wedding venues, The Hart House is the one to pick. It’s one of my favourite wedding venues in Metro Vancouver because of it’s convenient location, proximity to a large and beautiful suburban lake, the well-kept manicured lawns, and timeless vintage landmark building in one of Vancouver’s best local parks. The work that Flowerz Inc and the Hart House team did to decorate the wedding tent was outstanding. The colours were subtle and worked well with the natural surrounding environment. Nothing clashed or was oversized, it looked perfect. I love how the chandeliers add a timeless class to this wedding design. The cupcake wedding cake looked beautiful and edible. The kids had a hard time staying away from the cake and candy table. Vanessa and Chris created their own signing photo book to use on their welcome table. I enjoyed looking through the engagement photos in print that we took earlier in the year.
The decor and tent made for a great looking background for their wedding party photos at the Hart House. We later walked around Deer Lake for photos of the bride and groom and their wedding party. With Deer Lake Park being merely a few meters away from the wedding venue, it was easy to find great looking locations for photos of Vanessa and Chris around nature. Not only does the Hart House look great as a venue, the food was simple yet beautiful and delicious as well.
No big family Italian and Portuguese wedding would we complete without candid photos of families and their kids. Vanessa and Chris had a very warm day for their wedding, so by nightfall, it was time to loosen the ties and remove the jackets for dancing and family socializing. It was a truly memorable wedding. Congratulations again Vanessa and Chris!
