Nina and Sam married last summer and they celebrated their Catholic and Chinese wedding in Vancouver and Richmond. The wedding day officially began when Sam arrived to pick up Nina and had to endure a few Chinese door games from Nina’s bridesmaids. Out there in the open where every neighbour could see, the guys bravely put on brassiere and strut their stuff to prove Sam’s love for Nina. All the while, Nina worked upstairs to put on her dress, occasionally peeping through the window to get a glimpse of her husband to be. After enduring a few more embarrassing games, Sam gently entered the room where Nina sat waiting for his arrival. After a brief tea ceremony with Nina’s parent’s, together they traveled to St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish on Main Street in Vancouver for a Catholic wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony, they drove to Sam’s home, where they held a Chinese tea ceremony with Sam’s family and had a family lunch in the backyard. We later drove to a few locations in Richmond for wedding photos. For Sam and Nina’s engagement photos, we had trekked through the woods with lots of camera gear and had quite a workout, so it felt very pleasant to be in the city, standing on pavement, and with the car just steps away from our photo location.
I was amazed to learn that Nina designed her own Chinese red dress and make her own wedding cake, which she assembled just an hour before her guests arrived. Nina is one talented bride! There are a few photos above of her actually putting the cake together at the reception. How amazing was that?
Later that evening, Sam and Nina hosted an amazing Chinese banquet at Shiang Garden. It was clear from all the laughing, drinking, and budging stomachs that their guests had a fantastic time celebrating Sam and Nina’s big day. Above are just a handful of Sam and Nina’s wedding photos.
